CAPTURE AND REPRODUCTION PROCESS

All of the process steps below contribute to an end-to-end color managed workflow. This guarantees that the artwork captured by the camera is accurately represented on the computer monitor and the reproductions from the printer.

Capture (1)

Artwork is captured by a high resolution digital camera:

Using multi-shot technology, interpolation of colors is eliminated at the pixel level, resulting in greater color accuracy and natural image sharpness.
'Reproduction mode' provides accurate color capture by eliminating typical camera bias
Studio flash lighting minimizes exposure of artwork to harmful UV light and high temperatures
Capture application normalizes illumination across the artwork, further ensuring accuracy of reproduction
Camera position is accurately adjusted, (using dedicated optical instrumentation) so camera sensor plane is parallel to artwork, minimizes distortion and provides even focus of the artwork.

View and Adjustment (2)

The digital representation of your artwork is analyzed, adjusted and edited on a calibrated and color accurate computer monitor:

This analysis includes a check of exposure, color gamut and focus accuracy
Adjustments may include color and contrast correction
Other adjustments include cropping and sizing of image
Editing removes pre-existing flaws, (errant brush strokes for example) and any artifacts introduced during the capture process, i.e. dust removal.

Print (3)

Wide format inkjet printers are used to create the reproductions:

Printers are 'driven' by a dedicated software application called a Raster Image Processor, (RIP). This application optimizes the color gamut of the printer/ink set and includes B & W and color profiles for the print media, which ensures the widest color gamut, color accuracy and consistency of reproductions.
Proofs are compared with original artwork under controlled lighting and if required, further adjustments are made before final proof is presented to client for approval.
Printing of future reproductions is on demand, no further access to the original artwork is required.

Finish (4)

Lastly, the reproduction is finished per your requirements, depending on chosen media.

Paper prints can be mounted on acid free foam core board, with acid free mat board on top. Once assembled, they packaged in clear plastic bag and ready for resale.

Canvas prints can be mounted on professional quality stretcher bars, that are made of solid hardwood. Canvas is securely mounted to the bars using staples.
